Meats, Poultry, and Fish We are told beef is a contributing factor in heart disease and cancer, and although beef consumption has dropped over the years in favor of chicken, turkey and fish, these diseases continue to climb. This is because all industrial raised animals are kept in very crowded pens, fed pesticide-laden grain (which is unnatural to their diets), given steroids (hormones, which effect our own hormone balance when we eat them), and antibiotics (which leads to antibiotic resistant bacteria). Meat, milk and eggs in grocery stores are highly contaminated (why do you think they want to irradiate?) Diseased, cancerous animals routinely pass inspection and are packaged and shipped to our grocery stores. Pork feeds the growth of cancer cells, is highly parasitic, and can carry disease. No wonder if there's connection between these meats and health problems! On the other hand, pasture raised beef and poultry are very wholesome because they forage on the rich green grasses and insects God provided for their diets. They are the only perfect source of absorbable vit B12, are abundant in other vits and mins, and are very high in CLA (an anticancer component) and other antiviral substances. Meat is the principle source of phosphorus, iron and zinc, some of the minerals highly recommended for men's health today. Proteins, by the way, cannot be utilized in the body without dietary fats, which is why we see them occuring together in nature: eggs, milk, butter, meats. Consumption of low fat products like skim milk and egg whites, light and reduced fat foods, lead to serious deficiencies in nutrients because they have to draw on nutrients in order to be metabolized. Where will they get them, but from the body's own reserves? Vegetarian diets are highly recommended in health circles these days, but it is interesting to note that our Lord, who ate both meats and fish, also warned us that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer (1 Tim 4:1-5). Knowing this, it could be said that vegetarianism is not part of God's plan for his people. Studies show it can lead to acid-alkaline imbalance, Vit B12 insuffiency, and an imbalance of essential amino acids (needed for protein utilization) which leads to other health problems. Temporary abstinence from animal products is a valuable cleansing and healing practice, but if carried on too long can lead to bone loss, nervous disorders, and reproductive problems. In addition, animal products and their fats are essential for optimum growth and healthy reproduction. Infertility in America is higher than it has ever been, due to lack of sufficient animal fats and absorbable nutrients.
What to do: Seek out organic and/or pasture raised beef and poultry, ocean caught fish (not antibiotic laden farm raised fish), or hunted game meats. These are available directly from the farm, certain grocery stores, food co-ops, and your nearest friendly hunter!
